EVENT HISTORY: The 2009 Lusitano Collection Horse Auction arrives from Brazil on U.S. soil for the second year in a row. Scheduled to take place in West Palm Beach, Florida on February 2009, The 2009 Collection will feature the most prestigious collection of the noble and beautiful Lusitano breed of horses.

In 2008 The Lusitano Collection made its debut in the United States at a highly successful auction during the period of Florida's world-renowned Winter Equestrian Festival.  Buyers came to the Sunshine State from as far as California, Texas, Connecticut, Mexico, Colombia, Belgium, Denmark and Guatemala.  It was the first time that such a collection of Lusitanos had been sold on U.S. soil and gave clients the advantage of acquiring horses that are not available without the necessity of importing them either from Portugal or Brazil.

The Lusitano Collection® is a trademark created by five premier world breeders of the Lusitano horse, the 2009 Collection will highlight horses from Interagro Farms, the largest Lusitano breeder and exporter in the world and Coudelaria Rocas do Vouga of Brazil. Clients of The Lusitano Collection® can be secure in the knowledge that the horses presented at the collection have come directly from the breeder, not an agent. They may also enjoy the prestige that comes with owning a talented horse from the breeding programs of distinguished breeders from Brazil and Portugal, the Lusitano's native country.

THE EVENT: The 2009 Lusitano Collection Horse Auction will be held on February 19th and 20th, 2009 at the 111-acre Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, a well-known equine hot spot that is home to many distinguished stables and arenas. The center includes two show arenas, 128 permanent stalls split between two lighted barns, jump courses, additional dressage arenas, trail courses and an additional 150' x 300' covered show arena.

Prior to the auction buyers will be able to preview the horses available, test-ride them, and view their veterinarian records, including the most recent x-rays and tests that have been completed. At the end of the testing period, guests will be treated to lavish cocktail parties and networking events culminating with the gala dinner and auction. The auction will highlight a collection of 30 horses from two of the most important breeding farms: Interagro Farms and Coudelaria Rocas do Vouga. This year for the first time, The Collection will also feature a pair of driving horses from the Interagro blood line trained and featured by Robinsons Horses.

The four and five year old horses presented at the 2009 Collection are trained in dressage at the novice level. The breed is also well known for its exceptional performance in all equestrian disciplines so it is no surprise that Lusitanos from Interagro have been exported to nine countries and trained in jumping, dressage, driving, and even as cutting horses.  Information and photos about participating horses can be viewed on our website www.lusitanocollection.com.

It is important to emphasize the fact that what makes the Lusitano Collection® International Exhibition different from anything else ever presented in the marketing of Lusitano horses anywhere in the world, is that it offers buyers the distinctive opportunity not only to choose from a pool of specially selected horses from the most prominent breeders in the world, but also gives buyers the opportunity to meet the breeders and trainers; making this event much more than just an ordinary horse sale.
