Very impressive
young stallion with an exceptional pedigree. His mother Quatrilha
Interagro, is by Yacht (SA) – see The Stallion Gallery - and grand-mother
Vardasca (FB) is a histori-cally very famous mare who was, both, the first
pure-Veiga female to come to Brazil and the mother of the first two
pure-Veiga Lusitanos to be born in Brazil, Medina do Mirante (with Emir II
–MV) and Maverick Interagro (with Xique Xique CI) respectively. Vardasca (FB)
from the royal Bragança family breeding, was sired by Mistral (MV) the
highest punctuated Veiga stallion in the Lusitano history. Vardasca (FB)
left off-spring of seven individuals with Interagro’s brand: Maverick,
Medina, Laudel and Nilo do Mirante; Quatrilha Interagro, Piton Interagro,
Novela Interagro by Gatão (JHC). Quatrilha Interagro’s offspring includes
two daughters: Xinda and Zardasca Interagro, both with Ofensor (MV).
Trainer’s opinion: This horse
is very eye-catching! His 1.57m is very misleading; he has a very uphill
look and a lot of powerful mass and can carry any tall rider and do not
look small. He has a bit more of an “Iberian look” then some of the other
horses in the Collection. He has a very good quality walk, trot and
love-ly canter. He has a good nature and does want to please his rider. He
is a very sweet horse that is easy work. He is a forward thinking horse.
He is fun to ride for an experienced rider and as he settles with age may
be suitable for the right amateur. This horse has the quality that a rider
that is looking for an ‘Iberian type look’ and wants a dressage horse that
will stand next to the warmbloods in competition needs; this beautiful
steel grey could be their dream!
Rider: Dione Miranda – (Jony)
Valerius is very eye catching! His
size at 157 is very misleading. He has a very uphill look and a very
powerful mass so that he is able to carry a taller rider easily. Even with
his size he has a bit more of an ‘Iberian look’ than some of the other
horses in the collection. He has a very good quality walk, trot, and
lovely canter. He has a good nature and does want to please his rider. He
is a very sweet horse with good stable manners. He is a forward thinking
horse. This Stallion has an exceptional pedigree.
Challenges: Valerius is still
young. He can become nervous and tight. When he is tense he will try to
drop his back which will cause him to shift too much weight to his four
hand. He can be ‘over energetic’ on the lunge and in the beginning of the
work. Valerius needs more age to settle.
Suitability: He is fun to ride for
an experienced rider and someday may even be suitable for the right
amateur. I do believe he will settle with age. I feel strongly that this
horse needs to be sold to a professional. If an amateur was working with a
experienced professional, in a program it may be a good fit. They would
need to be a bold rider that does not find a powerful, forward thinking
horse intimidating. This horse has the quality that a rider that is
looking for an ‘Iberian type look’ that wants a Dressage horse that will
stand next to the warmbloods in competition, this beautiful steel grey,
could be their dream!
Note: This Stallion does like the
girls. If he notices possible girl friends (the mares) he can become
tense. |
