Very elegant horse with a tremendous pedigree. His sire Quixote Interagro
–see Stallion Gallery – is by Danúbio (MV), a son of Zimbro II (MV) who
happens to be also the grandfa-ther of Dardo II (MV), the father of
Velasco’s grandfather Hábil (MV) – see Stallion Gallery. For those
breeders looking for a superb pedigree, this may be the right choice.
Trainers’ opinion: This
beautiful moving horse will turn heads. This horse brings ‘something’ that
no other horse in the Collection has. He has three good gaits but his
canter is special! His sense of balance is completely unusual for so young
horse. He is one of the best movers of the Collection. With the right
training and rider this horse will have a very bright future in the
Dressage ring. He is forward thinking and easily crosses over the ground.
Velasco is a serious mover with the ‘lighter frame’ that some dressage
trainers are looking for now. He is very bold and you can feel his courage
from his bullfighting blood and therefore should go preferably to a
professional trainer before being ridden by an amateur.
Rider: Mauricio Delucchi – (Mauricio)

Challenges: Along with that bold
personality comes a horse that is not going to be easily impressed by his
rider. I feel that he is very smart and could be very assertive if he is
bored and not challenged! He knows he is a stallion. He is proud and acts
if his rider should gain his respect! He feels it is more important to
gaze at the sunset then focus on his work until he has a reason. With good
riding….. He is ready to work!!!
Suitability: This beautiful moving
horse will turn heads. Velasco at this time would not be a good choice for
an amateur. This horse is a serious mover and has the ‘lighter frame,’ a
style that some dressage riders are now looking for to compete. They want
the lightness and elasticity that Velasco brings to the arena. This horse
looks elegant but has enough substance for an experienced rider. He needs
a training program that appreciates his Veiga/Veiga breeding and
recognizes that he still needs time to grow up. Velasco is an
exceptionally quick learner but is still mentally immature and will
benefit by not being over- pressured and allowed to mature. |
