Jane Flanders began her insurance career in 1971 in Louisville, Kentucky (her home state) as a claims adjuster for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. In 1976, she was transferred to the Minneapolis branch of that company to be the litigation supervisor.  She supervised the claims adjusters and the litigation in the states of Minnesota, North and South Dakota and 16 counties in Wisconsin. After she married, she worked as the Assistant Claims Manager for E. W. Blanch Reinsurance Agency for five years. In 1983, she and her husband moved to a farm in Maple Plain where they raised Thoroughbreds for racing.  She ran the farm full-time.  Her husband began Windridge Insurance Agency, an equine specialty agency, in 1985.  Jane began working with the company out of the farm office in 1986 and then took over full time after her husband’s death in 1993.

Jane began riding at Fortuna Farm when she moved to Minnesota in 1976.  She showed dressage, under the tutelage of Kathy Theissen and Vicki Harris until 1994. At that time, a friend corrupted her into leaving the dressage ring and riding madly cross country to the hounds.  Jane has been a member of the Long Lake Hounds since that time, and leads the second field (the hilltoppers).  She has had the joy of showing dressage in Germany, and fox-hunting with the Galway Blazers in Ireland.

Insurance Coverage after Horse Sale:

As stated in the Terms and Conditions of Sale, title and risk of loss pass to the Purchaser at the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer, at which time Purchaser shall be responsible for the care, custody, control and security for the horse and for all expenses relating thereto regardless of where they are kept after fall of the hammer.

Taking this into consideration and as a courtesy to our Purchasers, Jane Flanders of Windridge Ltd. insurance company will be present on the night of the auction to provide Purchasers with insurance quotes/coverage for newly purchased horses.
